The Place
I love surprises. What I mean by this is that I went out on Sunday with the intention of having breakfast at an undisclosed location and ended up making an unprecedented last minute switch. I will not name the original spot I intended to visit, but was not psyched about the menu. I parked in front of the restaurant and noticed a cute building across the street with an open sign in the window. This building is called The Post. When I googled it up, what do you know brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 9-12AM!
Location & Parking
The Post is located on Fort Thomas Ave. They have there own lot on the side of the building and there is on-street parking up and down Fort Thomas Avenue. No reservation required.
Atmosphere
The outside of The Post looks small and quaint, the inside is surprisingly large and open. It feels like you are dining in a military hanger which goes along with the whole Fort Thomas theme. Decor consists of distressed concrete floors, copper wall tile accents, and exposed beams. There is ample table chair seating that is centered around a large bar in the middle. Upon entering I was greeted by very friendly bar staff. I was instructed to come to the bar to order, which I appreciated. One of my pet peeves is when you walk into a restaurant and have to figure out logistics. I don't feel like this is the customers job. After I ordered, I went ahead and sat myself. A number sign was brought to the table for my order along with my mimosa which was served in a wine glass. If you've read my previous posts, then you know I love getting a mimosa in a wine glass. It is like two in one deal! My AM cocktail was great, perfect orange juice to bubbles ratio.
Order-Up
The Tactical Sammy
I have definitely been on a breakfast sandwich kick here lately. This breakfast sandwich consisted of a fried egg, bacon, goetta, cheddar, and hot honey served between two Belgian waffles. This sandwich traditionally is served on a biscuit but you have the option to upgrade to waffles. It was served with a side of crispy seasoned potatoes. This is by far the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had! All the ingredients were cooked perfectly and the hot honey pulled everything together nicely. The breakfast potatoes had great flavor, crisp outside, and soft fluffy inside. My favorite part is some of the hot honey drizzled off of my sandwich onto the potatoes This only made them that much more awesome.
Overall Experience
My overall experience at The Post was excellent. Atmosphere was chill and laid back. This was a great place to spend a rainy Sunday morning. Staff was helpful, & outgoing. My breakfast was solid and so was my AM cocktail. Expect to spend 15 to 25 dollars here for brunch.
