The Place
This week we are back in Walnut Hills at a spot called Rose Garden. This place did not originally appear in my "brunch restaurants in Walnut Hills" Google search. I later found it under "breakfast spots in Walnut Hills." They do not have a website and I could not locate a photo of their menu. I was able to find some photos of different dishes they offer and thought the dishes looked pretty good. They are not open on Sundays my favorite brunch day of the week so I opted for a Saturday morning. With limited information on this restaurant, I was not sure what to expect.
Location & Parking
Rose Garden is located on East McMillan St. in Walnut Hills. It is in an old Frisch's restaurant that has been totally overhauled. They have their own parking lot with plenty of free parking for patrons which is a perk in a more urban setting, so no worries there. No reservation required.
Atmosphere
The inside of Rose Garden reminds me of a modern day Alice in Wonderland inspired night club. Lots of black, white, and grey, mirrored tile, floral painting, and rose decals. This place is decked out and fun. My favorite accent was the wisteria hanging from the ceiling. There is a large bar in the center of the main dining room and a solarium area with more seating and another bar. This may have been a private dining area. There was plenty of cushy velvety booth seating options. I also noticed a claw foot bathtub outside the restrooms. I was flying solo this AM and was greeted by a hostess/waitress who was very pleasant and friendly. I started off with a Peach-Mango Mimosa, which was delish! I was worried I was ordering something that was going to be overpoweringly sweet, but was pleasantly surprised by the perfect juice to fizz ratio. It's time to eat!
Order-Up
Stuffed French Toast
I decided to go with the Stuffed French Toast this morning. This French toast came with vanilla bean whipped cream and a blueberry compote. This menu item came with a choice of different fruit toppings by the way. I also ordered a side of bacon to get my savory fix. Everything was amazing! The French Toast was stuffed with a cream cheese glaze, the blueberry compote was a perfect compliment, and the vanilla bean whipped cream had great flavor. Bacon was cooked to perfection. I am glad I showed up with an empty stomach because I enjoyed every last bite of this dish!
Overall Experience
Everything was great from the moment I walked into Rose Garden. The waitress was great, service was prompt, food and drink was out of this world, and the decor was fun to take in. I feel like this restaurant could benefit from more marketing and promotion to draw in a busier breakfast crowd. Expect to spend $20-$25 for a stellar breakfast.
Rating: 4⭐
Rose Garden receives a star in each category: Atmosphere, Service, Breakfast Cocktail, and Plate. This place was an unexpected surprise! I cannot think of one negative thing to say, which is a great problem to have. If you are looking for somewhere different to go, with reservation free hassle, fresh breakfast options, and easy parking this is your place!
