The Place

I am finishing off my "Vegetarian Venues" category with a great pick, Melt Revival in Northside. It has proved to be challenging finding spots that carry mainly vegetarian menu items and as the saying goes....save the best for last!

Location & Parking

Melt is located in the Gantry Apartments on Hamilton Avenue in Northside. The entrance to the restaurant is on the street level. There is plenty of on-street meter parking and some pay lots available as well. I opted for Cincy EZ Park meter option as usual. No need for reservations.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere here is great and fits in well with the surrounding neighborhood. When you walk in you place your order at the counter, take a seat, and the staff bring the order out to you. This place has it's own unique vibe with bright mid-century modern style decor. The dining area is bright with plenty of natural light. The bar is located right next to the counter. I ordered a traditional mimosa, which did not disappoint. This mimosa had plenty of fizz with just the right amount of OJ. The staff were very attentive and pleasant.

Vegan Breakfast Burrito & Redskin Potatoes

It had been a while since I reviewed a breakfast burrito for the blog, so I opted for the Vegan Breakfast Burrito. This burrito was awesome! The filling consisted of tofu scramble, black beans, potatoes, vegan smokey cheese. The best part of the burrito was the red chili tortilla which nicely held all of the wonderful ingredients together. The tortilla itself was very flavorful and had great spice to it. How many times have you had a tortilla that was red or green, claimed to be flavored like spinach or tomato, and it literally had no flavor? This tortilla also came with a side of fresh salsa which served as a great compliment. I also ordered a side of redskin potatoes. I did not come to the realization that my breakfast burrito also had redskin potatoes in it until I sat down. I was worried the side of potatoes might have been overkill but I ended up not having any regrets with my choice of side. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and came with a side of house made smokey ketchup. They really should bottle and sell this ketchup! When I was done with my potatoes, I ended up dipping my burrito in the ketchup until it was gone.

Overall Experience

The overall experience at Melt Revival was great. I have not ventured over to Northside in quite a few years and forgot how brilliantly eclectic it is. Staff was lovely, the atmosphere was fun and laid back, food was extremely fresh and portions were generous. You can expect to spend about 10 to 25 dollars here.

Melt Revival gets a star for each category: Atmosphere, Service, Breakfast Cocktail, and Plate. Melt has been a local fav of Northside with a loyal following for 17 years and I am so glad I finally stopped in for breakfast! It is always nice to find a place that is no hassle that you can drop in on in a whim and just happens to have amazing healthy options.
