The Place

Fort Thomas definitely has a little bit of everything. Which brings me to my next spot for review, Highland Square Cafe. This self-described deli-style cafe just happens to serve breakfast from 8-11AM Monday-Saturday and all day Sunday. Needless to say, I was looking forward to trying it out!

Location & Parking

Highland Square Cafe is located on Highland Ave in Fort Thomas. There is plenty of free lot parking outside of the restaurant making it very convenient for dine-in or carry-out.

Atmosphere

Again another cute charming spot. White-washed brick exterior, cute outdoor patio. Inside you order at the counter, table chair-seating, and an adorable outdoor patio. Great last minute place to go if you are in the middle of running errands and need to take a breakfast/lunch break. Staff was very friendly and attentive. I sat in the sunroom which was very nice. No AM Cocktail menu here, so I ordered a traditional cup of coffee. Which was self-serve from a carafe in a Styrofoam cup. Honestly, no complaints it was hot, had good flavor, and tasted very fresh.

Three Little Piggies with Hashbrown Casserole

I opted to go with a breakfast sandwich on this particular morning. I went with the Three Little Piggies which consisted of bacon, ham, sausage, fried egg, and cheddar on toasted marble rye. Needless to say this sandwich was amazing! Layers of smokey flavor, all items cooked perfectly (especially the egg), and the rye added a little kick to it. The hashbrown casserole tasted really good. Great smooth texture, creamy, and cheesy. My only complaint was the temperature, which was lukewarm.

Overall Experience

This was a wonderful place to spend a Sunday morning. My breakfast was great, there was plenty of flavor to be had, and it was very filling. Atmosphere was relaxing and really enjoyed sitting in the sunroom.

Highland Square Cafe receives 3.5 stars. One star for each of the following categories: Atmosphere, Service, and AM Cocktail (coffee in this case). As much as it pains me, they receive half a star for Plate due to the temperature of the hashbrown casserole. My sandwich was on point! Can't wait to come back again.
