The Place
Goose & Elder is the second stop on my brunch quest through Findlay Market. This restaurant is one of three dowtown eateries from chef Jose Salazar. I remember first seeing him on an episode of Beat Bobby Flay and was enthusiastic to finally dine at one of his restauraunts.
Location & Parking
Goose & Elder is located on the corner of Elder and Race Street at the east end of Findlay Market. Ever since my last post, the Findlay Garage is my go to parking when I visit Findlay. This is due to location convenience and ease of entering and exiting the garage from Central Parkway. There are other parking options located around Findlay. On street parking is available as well as a lot on the north side of Findlay.

Being a self proclaimed morning person, I snagged the first reservation of the day. This morning I am dining with my stepmom who is one of my right hand brunch buds. Goose & Elder is located on the lower level of a charming mint green brick building, providing the feel of true downtown experience. Once you enter the restaraunt you're immediately invited into an atmosphere that offers a casual no pressure dining experience. The decor is straightforward allowing the authenticity of the building to shine through. The restauraunt is accented by exposed brick walls, wood floors, and simple wooden tables and chairs. Plenty of natural light fills the restauraunt through the storefront-style windows. Although we had the first reservation of the day, it did not take long for the restaurant to fill up. The wait staff was friendly, professional, and efficient. I started my morning with a bloody mary and my stepmom ordered the mimosa.

Speckled Goose Cakes
I have a tendency to lean towards more savory dishes when I am out for brunch. However, I have made a pledge to sample a sweet brunch entree at least once a month. With this being said, I ordered the Speckled Goose Cakes. This dish was truly next level. These chocolate chip pancakes are topped with banana and a peanut butter buttercream. I have never met a chocolate, peanut butter, and banana trio I didn't like. The peanut buttercream was rich and absolutely decadent.

The Carlos
My stepmom ordered The Carlos. I describe this dish as a high-end breakfast scramble made with eggs, potato, cheddar, onion, poblano peppers, and crema. She added goetta to the dish per menu option and asked for the salsa roja on the side, which they obliged. This dish embodied all of the right elements of breakfast with a great flavor combination.
Overall Experience
What can I say, another great Findlay brunch experience on record. This is an easy place to visit and the enjoyment that ensuits is effortless. There is no need for flashy decor in this place because the dishes are incredible. Flawless service from beginning to end and once your food presents to the table you can tell each and every menu item was curated by a chef. Brunch cocktails had the appropriate spirit to mixer ratio. Brunch menu items range from seven to thirteenish dollars. They also have side dishes you can mix and match ranging from two to six dollars. This is definetly a place that could please even the pickiest eater.
Recommend: Yes or No?
Yes! I have been watching this restaurant from a far for a couple of years now and am glad I finally made it there to have brunch. Iam looking forward to coming back again and ordering the Turkey Monte Cristo!
