The Place

My second Mainstrasse Village brunch review takes place at Cedar, a great low key brunch spot. Cedar is know for serving up elevated comfort food style dishes and this is no exception at brunch. If you are looking for an upscale brunch option that opens earlier than its competitors this restaurant opens at 9AM. I last ate here a coupe of years ago and looking forward to seeing what they have to offer as far as morning cocktails go!

Location & Parking

Cedar is located on the south side of Main Street in Mainstrasse village. I arrived first thing in the morning to plenty of free on street parking on W. 7th Street and a decent size pay lot located directly behind the restaurant. Overall very convenient.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere at Cedar is relaxing, non-pretentious and has a local neighborhood type of a feel. Another thing worth mention is they do not accept reservations. I would recommend arriving early to avoid the line formation on the sidewalk. The restaurant offers four seating areas: a rustic bar area with exposed brick located in the entry, a first level dining room located to the right of the bar with table/booth bench style seating, a separate dining area that is elevated by a few steps behind the bar that is more private with printed wallpaper, and back patio outdoor seating. It's time for drinks. My stepmom ordered the Cedar Mosa which consists of prosecco, orange juice, and strawberry puree. I opted for the French 75 which consisted of gin, lemon sour, cherry, and prosecco. Both drinks were very refreshing and we are off to a great start

Order-Up

Cinnamon Roll Waffles

The menu items are classic yet unique adding a fun element to dish selection because you honestly want to try everything. I had already made up my mind that I was going to have a sweet "Main" paired with a savory "Side". One of my favorite breakfast combos making it a great way to get the best of both worlds. I have already sampled a version of banana bread French toast at Subito, so I decided to go with the Cinnamon Roll Waffles. Adjectives I use to describe this dish are amazing, original, and melt in your mouth! These waffles are fried and coated with cinnamon sugar, cinnamon roll filling, and powder sugar. I felt like I was having a funnel cake for breakfast.

The Nola

My stepmom ordered The Nola and I must say when they brought this dish out to the table it smelled like a true creole dish. This dish was comprised of sourdough bread, topped with an egg, spinach tomato omelet, and a shrimp and crab sauce. Each layer of The Nola was nothing short of heavenly and delicious. If you love the flavors of New Orleans than this is the dish for you.

Overall Experience

Overall experience was wonderful, atmosphere is great you do not feel rushed even when they are busy. Our server was friendly, prompt with service, and attentive. Did I mention that at the end of your meal you are offered a rose to take home with you, how sweet! Food and drinks complimented each other very well. This is simply just a fun place to eat

Recommend: Yes or No?

YES! I would recommend Cedar over and over again. This is definitely a front runner as far as best brunch spots go. It is an easy place to enjoy and I could eat here every week and not get sick of it.
