Yuca

The Place

The second spot I am reviewing in Bellevue is Yuca, which is a sister restaurant to Cedar one of my favorite spots in Covington. They pride themselves on incorporating Mexican, Caribbean, and Latin American influenced menu items. This is my first time having visiting this restaurant, I previewed the menu, and am super excited to have brunch here!

Location & Parking

Just like the spot I reviewed last week, Yuca is located on Fairfield Ave next to Cork N' Crust pizza another great place to dine. Yuca has a small parking lot on the side of the building that is free to customers. If you get there early enough you will be golden, if not there is ample on street parking.

Atmosphere

Cedar is located in the old Campbell County Bank building, needless to say the outside of the building has a cool vintage look. The inside is as beautiful as the outside but in it's own contrasting way. The inside has a modern summery feel, almost like you stumbled across a chic oasis in the desert. Printed wallpaper, oak, leather, snake plants, and starburst light fixtures comprise the overall style of the restaurant. The staff and service were as upbeat as the atmosphere. Just like Cedar, all ladies get a rose when they are seated. Time for breakfast cocktails! I ordered the Yuca Mosa. When this came to the table my prayers were answered because what was placed in front of me was a mimosa/margarita hybrid executed perfectly! It was delicious and even had a salted rim with a lime. My stepmother ordered the Redneck Margarita and was shocked by what was delivered to the table. This drink entailed a normal sized gorgeous pink margarita with an entire bottle of Modelo Especial. As she slowly drank her margarita, she began slowly adding the beer into the glass this made for a heavenly fusion perfect for a hot summer day. This was one of the most fun drink experiences I have ever had at brunch.

Order-Up

Big Bad Wolf

Okay so when I reviewed Cedar, I ordered the Cinnamon Roll Waffles which were amazing. The Big Bad Wolf is a shredded pork waffle, crispy pork belly, with candied bacon. It is garnished with an orange chipotle honey and powdered sugar. This dish was to die for! Every ingredient of this dish complimented the next. Both Yuca and Cedar have great spins on the traditional Belgium waffle. There are no negatives here.

Cubano

My stepmother ordered Cubano with fries which was Yuca's version of a Cuban sandwich. I mean who doesn't love a good Cuban. This was served on panini style grilled bread with shredded pork shoulder, crispy bork belly (instead of ham), Monterey Jack cheese, mustard, house made pickles, and mustard. This elevated sandwich offers layers of curated flavor and is truly elevated. The fries here are hand cut, crispy, and the perfect side to this sandwich.

Overall Experience

The overall experience was great! I am already looking forward to going back. Service was friendly and prompt, breakfast cocktails were out of this world, dishes were two for two, and the atmosphere was fun and chill.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Yuca gets four stars for all categories: Atmosphere, Service, Breakfast Cocktail, and Plate. I could go on an on about this place. Reviewing places in Bellevue has been fun because each place is new to me and it's always great when you are blown away.
